Program Info

The “Outdoor Classroom” of Mission Springs spans 200+ acres of redwood forest, mixed evergreen, and chaparral ecosystems. Our classroom allows students to experience natural science first-hand with all five senses. Our Naturalists instruct small hiking groups that spend the majority of their time exploring the distinct ecosystems of our coastal mountains with optional ocean field trips. Your students will benefit from:

  • Over 40 years of experience in developing outdoor education curriculum
  • Naturalists that have Bachelor’s Degrees, First Aid/CPR Certification, as well as a love for the outdoors
  • A tried and true program with over 4,000 4th-8th grade students annually from across Northern California, including the Bay Area, Sacramento, and the Monterey Bay area
  • Curriculum and program activities tailored to support the California Science Standards for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, as well as the emerging California Education and the Environment Initiative (EEI)
  • Comfortable conference center lodging
  • Competitive Rates covering all instruction, program materials, lodging and meals
  • Flexible program stays (2-4 nights) to accommodate calendar and budget limitations
  • Optional ocean field trips expand scope of experience
  • Low Cost “Wilderness Weeks” in more rustic accommodations

Mission Springs Outdoor Education (MSOE) utilizes hands-on science and team building activities to foster positive student relationships and to promote good stewardship of the environment. Through this experience your students will flourish academically from seeing science come alive and socially from a shared experience with their classmates.
